About Rod Kaye
I am a professional photographer and artist living in Marietta, Georgia. I was fortunate enough to get my first job in photography while still in high school back in1979. I was working for a weekly newspaper in my small hometown in Pennsylvania. From that point, I was hooked. I left for school in Rhode Island to study Commercial Photography with an emphasis on Black and White film and processing. From there I traveled south to Atlanta, Georgia to study Advertising Photography at the Portfolio Center. I worked for a company doing studio and location photography for 19 years all the while doing freelance advertising and editorial (magazine/book) assignments. During this time I created a specialized darkroom technique which consisted of making a black and white positive image of my color slide transparency and then combining those images to arrive at a final result. That resulted in a vibrant almost surreal image and led to a large body of work with a large emphasis on sports photography. I was fortunate enough to do assignments for Sports Illustrated and in fact covered the Centennial Olympics for the publication along with the Atlanta Olympic Committee. I also had a solo exhibition of my Olympic Sports Art Photography at the U.S. Olympic Headquarters in Colorado Springs, CO.
Today, although I still do advertising and magazine assignments, the bulk of my work consists of portrait photography of Families and Children. My personal work consists mostly of landscape and fine art nature photography.
